WOWCube® Entertainment System Received US Design Patent
We are excited to share important news with you: the design of the WOWCube® Entertainment System is now officially patented in the USA. What makes our system unique, you may ask?
WOWCube® Entertainment System is an electronic cube-shaped display device with rounded corners. It has eight cubelets, each of which has three orthogonal exterior surfaces covered with glass. The device comprises high resolution displays and has no buttons. Onecan play video games by twisting, shaking, tapping, and tilting the device. And this is amazing.
But the WOWCube® System hasn’t become so ergonomic right away. The first version, developed in 2017, was a homemade 3D-printed device with 128x128 pixels displays. All the cube corners were sharp. It was a crude prototype, limited by the capabilities of available electronic components, and it was aesthetically imperfect.
The task for the next two years was to increase the screen size to cover as much of the surface as possible, to narrow the bezels surrounding them, and to make users’ tactile experience pleasing.
After several iterations, we honed in on the perfect shape. The outward surface of our cube is now almost all glass with almost no bezel. The device became smaller, and corners were rounded so that it felt great to hold in one’s hand.
Historically, design patents arose from cut-throat competition in the textile district of New York. As the Gilded Age fashion was broadening its market appeal, textile pattern designers demanded recognition, and proprietary rights, over their creative contributions. Later iconic design milestones included unique proprietary aesthetics of Sony Walkman, Apple Macintosh computer and Apple iPhone; Cubios, Inc. is proud to continue this legacy by bringing its unique WOWCube look to the emerging world of transformative gaming console designs.
